micro-arc oxidation of aluminum alloyThe micro-arc plasma oxidation (MAPO) can be applied on various aluminum alloys, even for casting alloys or alloys containing high amount of alloying elements (those are incapable of treating with traditional hard anodic coatings). The MAPO coatings are characterized as adhesive, flexible, anti-corrosion, anti-wear, heat/fire resistance and insulated coatings (high dielectric strength). The black inorganic coating, we developed, provide satisfactory thermo-optical properties of low reflectivity, high absorbance and emissivity. The MAO coating on magnesium alloys offers excellent corrosion resistance (SST > 400Hr) and wear resistance. The porous outer layer of MAO coatings also provides good undercoat for subsequent top paint coatings. The MAO coatings on titanium exhibit excellent wear resistance and biocompatibility.

Due to the improvement of mechanical, chemical, electrical and optical properties, the MAO coatings are used in the components in/on marine, sport, defense, aerospace, textile, mechanics, transportation, chemical, semiconductor equipment and biomedical industry.
